My Story
Hurray!! My life-time passion for drawing, painting and creating has recently and finally taken priority in my life. I’m at that stage where children are independent, corporate career has been fulfilled and my inner creative voice has taken over. During the Pandemic personal thoughts and reflections also woke me up to new ideas and beginnings. In 2023 I followed my heart by jumping into adobe illustrator, surface pattern design and combining both with my love of watercolour painting and repeating patterns. Now, all this has seeded itself into that little dream business I’ve carried in my head for years. Yes….it’s fun, challenging, filled with learning and most importantly giving me a refreshed purpose and a lot of creative goals.
I’m all about colour, pattern, detail … paper, pens, and paint. Spending countless hours in art supply and quilting stores proves my endless love of it all. I'm especially obsessed with flowers and leaves and the inspiring organic shapes found in nature. Water and paint mix and dry together in fascinating ways inspiring my whimsical patterns and colourful motifs I love to layer with pen and ink.
Digital communication is fast and effective but it falls short of the personal and emotional connection a hand-written note creates. History is the reminder. The ancient Chinese and Egyptians recognized the need for human connection when they began the practice of handwritten well-wishes and greetings on papyrus.
Today, Hannie Art Studio is inspired by the desire to help share simple, meaningful acts of human kindness and connection through the timelessness of artfully crafted paper goods, gift and table tags, hand written notes and greetings.
